Korean Electron-Land Cup

After last year’s winner of the 1st Electron-Land Cup, Kim Seongryong (9d), was eliminated in the first round of this year’s tournament in an upset by 1 dan Park Jihoon, the 5-round final knockout tournament was suddenly wide open. In the end, however, the finalists are the holders of 2 of Korea’s 3 most prestigious titles, Lee Changho (Wangwi) and Choi Cheolhan (Kuksu).

The first game of the best-of-3 final was held yesterday, with Lee Changho scraping victory by half a point. The last 2 matches of this tournament will be held next Monday and Tuesday. Both players currently hold 2 major Korean titles, and Lee Changho also won the last international Chunlan Cup tournament.
