Ch’oe Ch’eol-han suffers double defeat

This was not Ch’oe Ch’eol-han’s week. Yesterday, he was eliminated in the first round of the last 16 knockout phase of the Ch’eonweon title he was defending, by lowly 2-dan Kim Daeyong(2d), and today he lost to Pak Yeong-hun, holder of the Kisung title, in the semi-final of the KPI Cup. This means Pak will face Yi Ch’ang-ho in the best-of-3 finals.

The 32-player final knockout phase of the 1st Siptan title tournament started at the beginning of the month, and Pak Seung-ch’eol, 4-dan eliminated 8-dan Kang Manwoo, in the first round yesterday.
