Stellenbosch Club Prizegiving and AGM

This Thursday is Stellenbosch Club’s second annual general meeting (AGM), and first annual prizegiving. Some previous tournament winners will receive certificates at the prizegiving, along with some other prizes for active, improving and successful Go players. The AGM and prizegiving will take place in the Neelsie, but not necessarily in front of Jeff’s place.

All club members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The agenda for the meeting is available on the website here. The main issues at the meeting will be fixing a grammatical error in the constitution, and electing a new committee for the coming year.

The new committee will have their first meeting, along with the old committee, directly after the AGM. This meeting will mainly cover assigning responsibilities to the new committee members, and handing over responsibilities from the old to the new committee.

If you are willing to serve on the committee, please let me know in advance, if possible, by e-mailing kroon@sun.ac.za.

I read the agenda for the meeting, and one question came to mind, regarding the paragraph about which there is the proposed change:

    What does “severally liable” mean?

    Thanks…

Hmm, stupid me. A quick check in the dictionary, answers my own question:

“The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48”
    Severally Sev”er*al*ly, adv.
Separately; distinctly; apart from others; individually.
    1913 Webster

There must be an auditor to check and revise each
    severally by itself. –De Quincey.
    1913 Webster
