WC Closed prelims update

Christina Auret defeated fellow 11-kyu in the 2006 Western Cape Closed preliminaries to grab a quarter-final berth in the winner’s bracket. Her opponent in the quarter-final was decided by forfeit, with Chris Welsh taking the final spot.

The remaining 3 quarter-finals are: David Richfield vs Charl du Plessis; Bernard Broens vs Guillaume Binet; and Jaco Swanepoel vs Rory Beling.

The winners of the two brackets in the preliminaries will gain places in the Western Cape Closed Meijin Challenger’s League to be held in October – the winner there will challenge the current Western Cape Meijin, Konrad Scheffler.
