Andrew Davies to represent SA at 30th WAGC

Our hearty congratulations to Andrew Davies, who has qualified to represent South Africa at the 30th World Amateur Go Championships in Japan in May 2009. Andrew, a 2-dan player at the Cape Town club, was a 1-kyu player for many years before gaining 2 ranks in just under a year in 2007/2008.

We wish you the best of luck.

Cape Town ad hoc promotions

Based on input from Chris Welsh, Andrew Davies, Konrad Scheffler and Lloyd Rubidge, the following ad-hoc promotions have been requested: Ashley Ross, from 12k to 10k; and Paul Steyn, from 16k to 12k. These changes are further supported by Ashley and Paul’s ranks on KGS. I intend to implement these changes on 25 January if no objections are received.

If there are any comments or queries about the promotion, please contact Steve Kroon.

Update: The proposed changes have been implemented.

As the list stands, Ben Gale tops the list, with Victor Chow in second place.

The attached files are:

Details on how the calculations are performed.

*: An exception – new members of SAGA for 2008 whose membership has not yet been processed for various reasons may still have their scores updated when their membership processing is complete.
