Ad hoc promotion: Candice Barker

Based on feedback from Andrew Davies, Konrad Scheffler and Chris Welsh, I intend to promote Candice Barker to 27k effective before yesterday’s Cape Town open. Cape Town Open 2009 takes place on 16th May

Date: Saturday, 16th May, 2009

Venue: “A Touch of Madness” restaurant in Nuttall Road, Observatory.
We are given the venue free of charge, so we encourage players to support them
by having lunch and refreshments there.

Schedule:
09:00 Registration
09:30 Round 1
12:00 Lunch
13:00 Round 2
15:30 Round 3
18:00 Prize giving

Time limits:
45 minutes each with byo-omi of 25 moves in 10 minutes.

Draw:
MacMahon system with the bar set below the top 8 players (other options??)

Cost:
Standard: R20 for SAGA members, R30 for non-members
Student: R10 for SAGA members, R15 for non-members

Prizes:
Cash prizes for 1st and 2nd positions and best performance below the bar.

The Cape Town Open is open to all players of all strengths. You do not have to be
a member of SAGA to play. In particular, we encourage all members of the Stellenbosch
club to enter, regardless of their strength.

This tournament is hosted by the Cape Town Go club, and is a qualifying tournament
for the annual South African Closed.

Note: Round 2 and lunch could be swapped – we have not yet confirmed lunch times
with the restaurant.
