Revision of credit points calculations for 2007 and 2008

As mentioned in an earlier post, there were some administrative oversights with regards to finalizing SAGA’s membership list for credit point calculations in 2007 and 2008. The council discussed this extensively, and resolved to correct the point standings as far as possible, as detailed in Item 409 of our council meeting on 1 April, which was approved.

Most members points are unaffected by these changes – the only players who should see notable changes are the Soweto players funded from the development fund in 2007 and 2008, and the players who took the opportunity for retroactive 2008 membership. The revised points for 2007 and 2008 are available at the bottom of this post.

The most difficult aspect of these modifications is that they affect who should have been selected as the SA representative at the 2008 KPMC: Welile Gogotshe ends the revised list for 2007 in second place. The council decided that the fairest resolution of this situation is that Welile will be treated as if he has the second highest total in 2010 (only) for the purpose of electing a representative regardless of his actual total (unless he has the highest total).

The points are in a zip file – each player’s point calculation is in the recordsheet folder, and the full list of totals is in wagc_points.txt. If you find any mistakes or oversights in the calculations, please let me know by leaving a comment on this post or emailing Steve Kroon. If no objections are made before 12 July, these points lists will be considered final.
