Victor wins 1st Quarter 2012 Internet Tournament

It was the first SAGA internet tournament of the year today. We had a nice turnout of 14 players. The results are as follows:

Group 1:

Congratulations to Victor for placing 1st, and Pablo and Paul on their promotions to 5k and 6k respectively.

SAGA Credit Points for 2011

The SAGA credit point standings at the end of 2011 are now available for download. Also available is a zip file showing the calculations for each entry in the list.

Any errors or omissions must be reported to the Membership Secretary (Paul Steyn) by the 25th of January (one week from tomorrow). If errors are not reported, the current lists will be considered final, barring situations which the SAGA council deems exceptional.

Update: No objections received by the deadline; the credit points are now considered final

Final call for 2012 membership renewals

This is the final call for all SAGA members to renew their membership for 2012 as soon as possible – your 2011 memberships have expired.

You have only one week left to renew if you wish to receive the AGA Newsletter. All membership applications received after January 13th will NOT be eligible for the newsletter.

Please remember to email the membership secretary once you have paid, and mention how (or who) you paid and your current preferred email address. If paying by EFT please also email the treasurer.

Notice of 2012 SAGA AGM and Call for Nominations

The Annual General Meeting of the SAGA will be held on Saturday 14th April 2012 during the lunch break of the SAGA second quarter internet tournament in the South African Room on KGS. This means that the meeting will start at 14h00, unless there are second-round games still in progress, in which case the meeting will begin when those games have been concluded. The agenda will be as follows:

  1. Considering the 2011 minutes for acceptance.
  2. Receipt and consideration of the President’s report for 2011/2012
  3. Receipt and consideration of the Treasurer’s report for 2009
  4. Adoption of the Financial Statements for 2009
  5. Receipt and consideration of the Treasurer’s report for 2010
  6. Adoption of the Financial Statements for 2010
  7. Receipt and consideration of the Treasurer’s report for 2011
  8. Adoption of the Financial Statements for 2011
  9. Election of new council members for 2012/2013
  10. Matters arising

The reports and financial statements should be released in due course, and linked to from this article.

This post also serves as a call for nominations for the SAGA council for 2012/2013. Paul Steyn and Lloyd Rubidge’s terms of office expire in April. Nominations must reach the secretary ( by 3 March 2012: nominations require a proposer and a seconder, and an indication by the nominee that (s)he is willing to serve on the SAGA council. Proposer, seconder, and nominee must all be members of SAGA (more details on nomination are available in paragraph 6.9 of the SAGA constitution).
