Please renew your SAGA membership for 2014

This is a call for all SAGA members to renew their membership for 2014 as soon as possible – preferably before 31 January 2014. Please note that membership fees for 2014 have, by recent vote, been increased to R150.00, but discounts have been granted for full time tertiary students, to R75.00, and primary or secondary school pupils, to R30.00. Your renewed membership will be valid for the 2014 calendar year. 2013 memberships will expire on 31 March, however, to take part in tournaments it is required that you are a fully paid up member. Details for how to renew your membership are available on the SAGA general information page (see the section: Joining SAGA/renewing your membership).

New members are also welcome to join for 2014 now. Membership is required for participation in the national tournaments co-ordinated by SAGA (the SA Open, SA Closed, and the quarterly internet tournaments on KGS). Also, only members earn credit points to qualify to represent South Africa at various international tournaments. All members registered on or before 31 January will additionally receive the members-only edition of the AGA newsletter, if they wish (if they do not wish to receive this newsletter, please opt out by mailing the membership secretary). Can all renewing their membership or applying for first time membership please email the membership secretary with their current club, preferred email address and optionally their cellphone number.

Finally, we are working on updating the SAGA credit points list for 2013. In order to receive credit points for 2013, you need to have been a member in 2013. Please check whether your name is listed as a 2013 member on this list, and contact me no later than 15 January if you should be listed, but are not.
