How it works:

These are the initial rules for the ladder, but they are subject to change without notice while the ladder is finding its feet.

  • Rated games with no handicap, played between members of the Stellenbosch club after 14 June 2006, are used to determine position on the ladder. As of 1 July, handicap games in which the player giving the handicap wins, are also used for the ladder.
  • If the losing player is not on the ladder, he is added to the bottom of the ladder.
  • If the winning player is below the losing player on the ladder, he is shifted to directly above the losing player on the ladder.
  • If a player does not play a game which qualifies for the ladder in a calendar month, his position on the ladder is dropped by the number of consecutive full months he has not played a qualifying ladder game. A player reaching the bottom of the ladder in such a case, is removed from the ladder.

  • Steve Kroon – 25 July to 5 August (12 days)
  • Florian Breuer – 15 June to 25 July (40 days)
  • Hugo van der Merwe – 15 June (1 day)
